My Balcony Garden

panels to create a balcony screen

When Sears Canada closed their doors they sold everything right down to the bare walls.  I managed to scoop up 8 lattice panels for $1.00 each.  I have been looking for an inexpensive solution to a problem.

I have a direct view into the building across the way and I am not fond of that view.  Also, I needed less direct sunlight on the balcony to give my plants a fighting chance this year.  I was hoping the panels would provide the perfect solution!

I don't want to trim the panels or cut them in any way because if we move, locally, I want to be able to use them again.  This means that I had to overlap some of the panels.  Zip ties were the perfect temporary solution.

The Pink Jasmine plant has held on really well all winter.  I am really rather impressed with his fortitude.  I like a plant that refuses to die!  Hopefully, the lattice gives him a little extra help when the scorching sunlight that I get on this balcony returns this summer.

I'm not sure what I am going to do with my pallets but as it is only January 30th I still have time to dream about a lush garden corner.
