Lake Louise

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Situated inside Banff National Park, Lake Louise is breathtaking!

We stayed overnight at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise which is an extremely elegant hotel.

Our room overlooked the Victoria Glacier and the lake.  We  enjoyed a complimentary champagne before heading out to explore the area.

Naturally, I sipped my champagne while lounging in a  hot bath filled with luxurious bubbles.

The bathroom was well stocked with lovely personal hygiene items as well as large fluffy, white bathrobes.

It was tough to leave the room but the hotel itself has so many tempting things to do from world class shopping to spa treatments and restaurants and even a candy store.

Everywhere you walk around inside the hotel the windows offer stunning views of what can only be described as slices of Heaven.

You can fish, canoe and hike around the area.  There are photographers everywhere from all over the world.

We went in late October and it was very quiet on the Friday but by Saturday the shutterbugs were out from early in the morning until late in the afternoon.

We were fortunate to enjoy the view alone for a while.

Lake and Glacier View

There were a few weddings on the go while we were visiting and I snooped around to see the reception areas. Huge windows overlooking the glacier and lake made the rooms very lovely.

If you love swimming it is hard to resist at least dipping a toe or two or a whole foot into the lake but I have to warn you that it is freezing cold!

It is difficult to get a picture that does this view justice.  You will have to see it in person to understand the power of the place. It is definitely worth the drive from Calgary!
