Steveston
Once upon a time there was a sleepy fishing village named Steveston, British Columbia. Located in the southwest of Richmond. Steveston was known for it's many canneries along the Fraser river. Salmon was the catch of the day. At the peak of it's fishing history Steveston was also referred to as Salmonopolis.
The fishermen still go out to sea but Steveston is currently famous for it's newest name, a fictional one, Storybrooke. Visit at the right time of year when the hit show, Once a Time, is filming and you may get a glimpse of Prince Charming or Snow White.
Over 50 spots in Steveston have been magically transformed to look like the village shops and buildings in the fairy tale spot of Storybrooke. Maine. Fans of the show will not be disappointed. The show has added just that much more charm to what is already a very pretty spot to visit.
Shop owners may even let you know which of your favorite characters has come in to enjoy their wares. You're going to want a souvenir of your visit and you'll have no problem finding the perfect item. A dream come true for a loyal fan for certain.
Stroll along Fourth Avenue to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, built in 1894, and now designated as a national historic site or stop in at Dave's Fish & Chips on Moncton Street to enjoy a bowl of homemade clam chowder. Peruse any of the quaint stores like the Storybrooke Country Bread, actually named Romania Country Bread, to find the makings for an afternoon picnic. Head over to Garry Point Park to enjoy a view of the Fraser River and Gulf Islands or cycle along the many miles of trails available.
