Decorations

Simple, elegant floral arrangements in the dining room and living room...hydrangea, peonies, white roses or white carnations...in vases or bowls...a spotlessly, clean home...ambient lighting, candles, fire burning in the fireplace...think simple elegance...and comfort....throw cushions, afghans, a basket of warm socks or slippers...bar cart or drinks station at the ready...

Music

Let's begin our evening with some Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billy Joel, Michael Buble and of course, Frank Sinatra...later we move on to some Elton John and 80's music and work our way up to whatever keeps everyone happy...definitely squeeze in some Harry Nilsson to get some lime in that coconut!

Wine & Cocktails

Serve full bodied and smooth Bordeaux/Côtes de Bordeaux(red)with your Cheese & Charcuterie Board...Medium-aged, hard cheeses tend to pair well with full-bodied red wines...I prefer red wines but if you like white there are some 2018 white wines from Australia that you may enjoy...a chardonnay, perhaps...which will enhance the flavour of your more mild cheeses...keep cocktails simple by mixing up a batch or more of sangria...try my Queen Victoria Sangria recipe

Cheese & Charcuterie Board

Let your guests discover which pairings of fruit and nuts and cured meats and cheeses they prefer.  Provide plenty of fruits and jams and crackers and a few baguettes...go large!  Round out your board with savory morsels like pickles and olives...it's fun arranging your board.  Plums and tangerines and red grapes add great visual appeal.  Supply plenty of napkins and wet wipes and lemon wedges in water bowls.

Entertainment

I've attended pajama parties with psychics and tarot readings that were very interesting. Casual parties with popcorn and movies were fun, too.  I like the opportunity to mix and chat.  Let's try something a bit different and play a murder mystery game or play "Whats a DAME to do?!", which from what I hear is a board/card game that is a riot!

Desserts

Hello, Chocolate!  This is the time to drag out your crystal candy dishes and fill them up with homemade truffles, peanut brittle and meringues.  If you want to skip the baking then pick up some Italian or French pastries and arrange them artfully around the hot chocolate and coffee bar that you create.  Steaming mugs of hot chocolate topped with fresh whipped cream sounds dreamy.  Mmmm.....the perfect nightcap...see you in the morning...everyone knows where they are sleeping, right?  No cell phone alarms allowed!  Goodnight xo
